Welsh springer spaniel + Clumber spaniel - Jane Howarth (GB)

ostatní španělé / other breeds - MVDr Josef Nosek (CZ)

Dawn Young - Canyonn kennel
I was born in 1975 to Susan and Philip Young (Canyonn Cocker Spaniels), I think I was actually raised by Cocker Spaniels as they have been part my life from the day I was born.
I started showing from an early age, not only Cockers but any other breed I could get my hands on, although Cockers have always been my first love. I have always been very involved in the breeding and showing of the Canyonn Cockers. Over the years we have shown and bred 10 English Show Champions the latest one (Sh.Ch. Canyonn Classic Welcome) Whom I campaigned to his title. There have been many others with CC,s and RCC winners. We have also exported dogs to Malta, Australia, Romania, Spain, South Africa, Holland and many others countries, all who have gained their titles, we are always very
proud of all these achievements as our kennel is not very big and we have never had more then 7 dogs at home as we only breed when we need something to show ourselves.
I started Judging in the mid 1990s and awarded challenge certificates for the first time in 2009 and then again in 2011. In August 2011 I judged at my first overseas appointment in Norway which I really enjoyed.
I feel very honoured to be asked to come to the Czech Republic and judge my beloved breed which I am looking forward to.
Nicola Calvert - Calvdale kennel
She has been involved in the exhibiting and breeding of dogs all her life. Born into a showing home Nicola showed Pomeranians and Great Danes under the family affix of Fullate from a very early age. When she married, she took out her own affix with the Kennel Club and Calvdale is the banner under which she and her husband have been breeding English Springer Spaniels with no small amount of success, for over 30 years.
Nicola is a well known judge in the UK and has also judged abroad in Germany, Sweden and Finland on a number of occasions. Nicola is the Secretary of the Northern English Springer Spaniel Society and the society representative on the Joint English Springer Spaniel Judging Consortium. She judges many breeds at Open Show level as well as having been the Secretary of two General Open Show Societies for a number of years Nicola and Martin were the Top Winning Breeders in the breed in 2005 and again in 2006. Having on many occasions been the recipient of Top Dog, Top Puppy and many other awards that have come the way of the Calvdale dogs Nicola now finds it is more about the work behind the scenes that delights her and seeing a puppy picked from a litter go on to become a show dog and perhaps even a Sh Ch gives one great heart. “It isn’t all about the winning. Sometimes you can be pleased with a lower placing if you feel the dog has really tried its best and seeing something grow in confidence and take on the showing job and enjoy it is a great feeling”.
In the beginning with ESS, especially living in rural North Yorkshire and so close to the famous Cleavehill kennel of Jean and Bill Taylor and the Teesview’s of Ellen Dobson, one couldn’t help but be influenced by these people. Eventually Cleavehills and Teesviews were incorporated into the developing Calvdale line and I used a Cleavehill stud dog not that long before Jeans passing so looking back over many of the pedigrees of my dogs, you will find the use of these dogs and see the influence in the progeny even today
We have also been involved in TV work and for a long time I had a lot to do with a programme called Heartbeat and I also worked on Emmerdale.
. “I’m a strong family person and adore my grandchildren and sees them as the future and I hope I am around for a very long time to share that future with them and watch them blossom”.

Jane Howarth – Arkview
I registered the Arkview Kennel Name in 1978. At first I had Gordon Setters which I showed with little success. In 1985, I got my first Welsh springer spaniel and started a successful line. We also showed a clumber spaniel around the same time. Since then there have been several Champions in both breeds carrying the Arkview affix. Perhaps our most famous dog is one who was only shown a few times, Arkview Moonstroller. He has been a very influential sire, siring 8 Show Champions in the UK and many more around the world. He is behind a lot of the current top winners in the UK.
We have also shown English Setters under the Moorbrook affix and have Curly Coated Retrievers as well.
I have judged all gundog breeds regularly in the UK since 1985 and have awarded CC’s in Welsh Springers since 1997. I also award CC’s in Clumber Spaniels. I have been fortunate to judge in Sweden and Finland.
I am looking forward to judging these lovely breeds at the Czech club show.
